A deserted Island...

Matt started building the kitchen island last week. It will have cabinets on both sides and finished end panels on the ends.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Another view of the island under construction....it will have a chase down the middle for plumbing and electrical. Total length is 12 feet. Total width is 5 feet...it is a monster!

The cabinets are so long they barely fit in the garage. Matt has to edgetape all the cabinets and then add color and laquer.

First finished cabinet doors. They are glorious and shiny birch. You can actually see the whole room's reflection in the cabinet doors! Just gotta find the right pulls.

Matt and Lala went swimming last week. Lala loves the raft. She cries when she can't get on it. :)

Got the bath vanity mounted and the light fixture in. Our bath screen should be in in 2 weeks. Also, we are waiting on a drawer, doors, stellar snow silestone counter top and wall paint.

When it's 115 degrees out...

I just look out at my yard and look at how pretty the pool is. I think I might go jump in the pool now!!!!!

Our new huge bathroom mirror was installed yesterday. Our light fixture will be installed on the mirror tonight...if I can convince Matt to make it a priority.

Matt is building a new custom vanity for the bathroom...inspired by one he took out of a 60s era house in Phoenix. The old one we had could not be re-finished as easily as we hoped...so viola...Matt built a new one too look just like the old one. We still have to stain and laquer it...then order a dovetailed drawer for the front. We are builing a magazine rack on the side next to the tiolet...he he he.Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hall bathroom tile finished!

I think the tile turned out awesome. The white floor makes the space seem a tad biger than it actually is. The floating vanity will also help make the space seem bigger.

I love the white tile...can't wait to paint, put in the toilet, set up the fixtures, re-install the door, install the vanity and sink, install the mirror and new vanity light, and get all the accessories in place.

We are ordering a bath screen as an alternative to a shower curtain or sliding glass shower doors. The screen will be stationary and will allow full view of the tub...which will also give the illusion of space.

The tile for the backsplash in the kitchen is now done. Just waiting for doors, hardware, and counters. Oh, and an island. Maybe we'll have an island sometime this year.
