Painted rooms

Well...almost all of our interior painting is complete except for touch-ups.

We started priming and painting the lounge and Matt's man room on Wednesday.


Then we removed the cardboard paper covering the new floors and took off all the tape and viola!



We have to install baseboards,wondow coverings and light fixtures. Then comes the time to furnish and decorate the rooms so we can ge them finished!

Pantry underway and drywall almost completed

The drywall in the lounge and Matt's man room is all skimcoated. We have to paint tomorrow. Then empty all the crap out of the POD back into the house....not looking forward to that at all.


In the midst of the flooring, our water heater broke and now we have a new one.

Matt has been working on getting the ceiling finished....takes forever to put up the ceiling panels...who would have thought it could take over 2 weeks to put up 1/3 of them!



We started laying out the pantry and getting it all organized...here is the progress:


There will be potted plants on top of the wardrobes and the side panels will be the same color as the kitchen cabinetry. There will be 2 shelves above the bench and hooks for coats, umbrellas and dog leashes. There will be family photos on the wall down the pantry. It will be so awesome and rad when we are all done with the pantry.

Housewarming Party on Oct. 14th-Cancelled

There is no way we'll be done enough with the house by October 14th...so we have decided to cancel our scheduled housewarming party. We think we'll be closer to completion in November/December.

So....we'll keep ya posted!

New floors rule

The lounge still needs to be skimcoated and painted, but it now has finished floors!

Matt's man room also needs skimcoating and paint...looking good!

The pebble is troweled on by hand....amazing to watch. That's Hungarian Joe (our pebble guy).

It's nice watching the gross concrete disappear!

Can't wait for our ceilings and cabinet doors to be finished!

Matt got the speaker wire up, so we can have speakers outside and in the kitchen. The ceiling panels are at a halt until the floors are dry and the weather clears up.

The kitchen is totally uncluttered right now. It is going to be hard to unload the pod and bring all our crap back in...I feel like I might be donating a lot of stuff to goodwill and friends. :)

Here's the view to the lounge. Gotta get a couch, end tables, tv and other stuff for the room.

We will finally have finished floors throughout the house by Tuesday afternoon. The pebble floors are getting laid tomorrow and tuesday in the kitchen, hallway, lounge and Matt's man room. YAY! Here are the completely cleared out rooms! Note all the dust in the iar...caught with the camera flash. Sneezetown usa.

More inspiration shots

Matt's office is very much on the small side, so we are going to maximize space by custom building a wall desk and hanging bookshelf. While the carpet in this room is super cool, we probably will just leave the pebble floors. This is our inspiration photo for his office.
We are going to star hanging the ceiling panels today. This is one of our many inspiration photos for the ceiling. Right now, they are totally missing something. The panels should warm up the space a lot.

Meals for 2....

Matt and I have been enjoying our new kitchen and exploring new recipes.

We made cuban chicken, black beans, rice, and plantains one night last week:

and we made apple chicken with grilled yellow squash and zucchini last night:


We are totally behind schedule on our list to prepare for the housewarming party. The drywall guy stood us up...and we had appt for 2 weeks! I am so angry I could puke!!!! So, our new floors go in tomorrow and Tuesday. We should be able to walk on the floors on Wednesday. Now we have to skimcoat, sand and paint with our new floors in.

We are going to start installing the ceiling panels in the kitchen today. We are behind schedule on that. I hate being behind....it makes me aggro. :(

I love labor day weekend!

With the help of the uber talented June, I rearranged my living room furniture to emphasize the front windows. Prior to the sofa switch, one of the sofas was blocking the gorgeous windows...what was I thinking? Oh....labor day rules because everyone gets to take a nap....including Matt and the pups.
Our 1st official dinner party was a BLAST!!!! Strawberry chicken salad is the new Hibbard specialty offered once a month! Thank you to our 1st dinner guests Ross and Shirley, David, Nicole & Mike. Thanks for helping us celbrate in our new kitchen! Also thank you to the 2nd dinner party-June,Jason,Danny,Mary and Eric...and the Tan!

June has a great idea for making part of the 2nd entry into a mud room with coat hooks and a mirror. I am so excited when I get inspiration ideas like that!

The new fountain arrived. Can't wait to hook it up...

We officially have water in the hall bath and kitchen!

One of the reasons this kitchen was remodeled...the view. Enough said.
The dishwasher was installed today. We've had it in a box and in position for over 1.5 years!!!!!!!!! Matt was pretty excited about it!

Seriously. I can't wait to party in this house! October 14th will be the first taste of parties to come!!!!!!

And a hall bath that is fully functional. when we moved in, there wasn't even water pressure at all in this bathroom and it was NASTY. What a freaking change!
