New roof

Well...after months of researching companies and roofing materials, we finally reached the day our roof is completed! We hired Kyko roofing to install a foam roof. They tore off our crappy shingle roof and luckily all of our wood underneath was perfect. Not one piece of wood had to be replaced. I was able to hop up on the roof yesterday to see them ripping off the old roof. It looked really good up there. The foam was sprayed on today, so I haven't had a chance to take photos of it yet. They covered up all our cars and landscaping, as well as our neighbors'. They were such a pleasure to deal with....very rare for me to speak highly of a contractor, but I was so pleased with their performance!

Re-arranging furniture

After a friend commented that my house is "all kitchen", it prompted me to analyze how often I use the dining room. I realized we've sat at the dining room table like 2 times in the last 8 months. So, I moved the dining table to the other side of the kitchen and it fit perfectly. We just have to make it a little more formal by adding a light fixture. We also have to get some new furniture for our new "family room". We gained space we didn't really take advantage of before. It's always exciting when you realize just how much space you have. :)

Our magazine shoot

In December, we got asked to use our house for a photo shoot. The photos can be seen in a 10 page spread due out in the spring issue of the Arizona Republic's magazine. It is only their 2nd issue...the 1st issue that came our winter 06 sold out.

Matt and I were recently featured in an article about Scottsdale mid-century modern homes in the Arizona Republic (as you already may know). A style reporter picked up the paper and saw photos of our house and called us at the end of November to see if we’d be interested in being in a spring photo shoot. Of course, we said “Hell yes!”

The theme of the 10 page spread is “British Spring Martini”. They brought clothes for us to wear, 3 chefs, a set designer, a reporter, a flower designer and a photographer. The coolest thing about the shoot was the products they used. I wanted to steal everything!!!! I found a new dinnerware designer http://www.rosannainc.com/ and got to be the first in the state to try PINK vodka http://www.perfectpartyspirit.com/ . It must be rad to be a set designer….they get the coolest stuff ever!!!! OMG…so amazing! Tammi Coe cakes even made sparkly British flag cookies for the shoot! http://www.tammiecoecakes.com/ .
