Fireplace weather!
Finally it is cold enough outside to use the indoor/outdoor fireplace! OMG I effin love it! We sat in front of it inside tonight and decided we need to have a full sitting area in front of it. We moved the barcelona chairs to either side of the fireplace and pushed the dining room table farther away from the fireplace. We are even considering getting a small flat screen to mount on the wall that can swivel from the dining room to the kitchen....would be so cool! (obviously not incredibly soon due to the fact we need a new roof, among other things) This house amazes me more every day! We still have to have the inside and outside of the fireplace finished....contractors suck ass. Um.....3 weeks since the guy was supposed to start! I hate people.....

Working with what we got in the living room
So Matt and I have had our living room furniture since like 2001....couches,lamps,tv stand, coffee table...etc. Since we are going to have some huge budget constraints in the coming months, we don't have the dinero for new pieces. A roof and 2nd AC unit are major priorities at the moment. So...we keep experimenting with couch placement and moving and removing some of our old pieces. We moved our plants out of the living room and brought in our 60s mirror for above the couch. We gotta hang that and some cute shadowbox frames above the barcelonas.....not exactly the way I'd want to decorate my living room....but on a budget, it will have to do for now.
Pantry updates
I got hooks and shelves to install still...but the pantry is working out amazing. I have moved all our bulk groceries into the pantry cabinets. We also moved all our holiday decorations and dog stuff into the cabinets. I have started adding accents to the space---today I put up the potted plants on top of the pantry shelves. I have to decide on wall decor to the blank white wall. I am thinking of getting about 20-30 small frames and hang family photos down the hall....or some of my old art work. We'll see.
Dining room
I love to move junk around the house to make other parts of the house seem more "finished". I moved drywall, wood, panels and tools out of the dining room and living room today so I could get a feel for how "finished" both rooms were. I moved our teak cabinet to the dining room and flanked it with the funky plants. We have to take the plants out of their original pots and move them into the white ceramic pots.
Our fireplace will probably never be finished. While I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have concrete cast mantel and bench, it is so far beyond our budget currently. So....plaster is a less expensive alternative to achieve the same look. I need to go art shopping for stuff to adorn the walls. For now, we'll just mount our chrome clock above the teak cabinet.
We need to have a metal person make a long metal extension so that we can hang the sputnik closer to the table for ambiance.
Matt finished the drawers for the kitchen, so hopefully we'll install those tomorrow and put up the knobs for a 95% complete kitchen.

Cabinet doors.....eff yeah!!!!
The kitchen is coming together....cabinet doors were hung this evening. They still need to be adjusted so they are perfectly fitted. We are going to install the knobs over the next couple of days. We still have to hang the doors above the ovens, too. Matt has to stain the drawers and put the fronts on...then we'll be in business! Matt has a side panel for the side of the refrigerator and the upper cabinets above the refrigerator.
